OAS Permanent Council to Consider Situation in Haiti and Continue with Preparations for the 54th General Assembly

The Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) will hold a regular meeting on Wednesday, June 5 at 10:00 EDT (14:00 GMT) in the Simon Bolivar room at OAS headquarters in Washington, D.C., to consider “the situation in Haiti” and continue with preparations for the fifty-fourth regular session of the General Assembl to be held in Asunción Paraguay between June 26-28, among other topics.

The meeting will include the participation of:

· The Special Representative of the OAS Secretary General in Haiti, Cristobal Dupouy;

· The Head of Cooperation in Haiti of Global Affairs Canada, Tina Guthrie;

· The Assistant Secretary-General for Europe, Central Asia, and the Americas of the United Nations, Miroslav Jenca;

· The member of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission), Michael Frendo (Malta).
