OAS Co-Organizes Forum in Colombia on “Power, Representation and Equality: Challenges for Women´s Political Participation”

The Organization of American States (OAS) will co-organize this Wednesday, October 22 in Bogotá the Forum “Power, Representation and Equality: Challenges for Women´s Political Participation,” in which experts will discuss the progress made and challenges remaining to the promotion of the participation and political representation of women in Colombia.

During the event, organized together with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) and the Faculty of Finance, Government and International Relations of the Universidad Externado of Colombia, experts, legislators and representatives of civil society will debate the issue of women´s political participation.

The Forum is part of the activities of the Political Reform project of the Secretariat for Political Affairs of the OAS and takes place in the framework of a strategic alliance between the UNDP and the General Secretariat of the Organization to promote the exchange of experiences and lessons learned to contribute to the debate on political reforms in Colombia.

In parallel with this event, the OAS and the UNDP will carry out a series of conversations with Colombian legislators and other key actors currently considering and debating reforms to the law of quotas and to the campaign financing regime in the country.
