OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR FOR FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION RECEIVES FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION FROM FRANCE

Washington, D.C., August 3, 2007 – The Office of the Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) of the OAS expresses its gratitude for the financial contribution of $25,394 provided by the government of France to support the activities of the Office of the Special Rapporteur in promoting and defending the right to freedom of expression.

The Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression, Ignacio J. Alvarez, said that “the financial contribution of France, an important country which is a permanent observer to the OAS, is also an expression of support to the work of the Office of the Special Rapporteur in favor of freedom of expression within the region.”
