OAS Permanent Council Held Regular Meeting

The Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) today held a regular meeting which, after initiating as a public session, was declared private upon the vote of the majority of the permanent representatives.

Following the proposal of Nicaragua, the Permanent Council held the vote that defined the private nature of the meeting, which had among other items on its agenda the current situation and dialogue in Venezuela. Twenty-two countries voted in favor of declaring the meeting private, eleven in favor of maintaining it public, and one abstained.
