OAS Trained Paraguayan Public Employees in the Formulation of Electronic Government Strategies

The Secretariat for Political Affairs of the Organization of American States (OAS) held the 50th version of the course, “Introduction to the Formulation of Electronic Government Strategies,” which ended today and that was developed in the framework of the MuNet Paraguay program for the Virtual Campus of the Department for Effective Public Management with the participation of more than 250 public employees belonging to 30 municipalities of Paraguay.
The course seeks to give participants an operational understanding of the principal concepts of Electronic Government, as well as the critical elements they must integrate into a strategy of this nature. The Electronic Government is the application of information and communication technologies (ICT) to the workings of the public sector, with the objective of increasing efficiency, transparency and citizen participation, in the context of the need to modernize the state apparatus.
The first version of the course was held in 2003 and to date more than 3000 public officials from the region have been trained.
