The 49th Course on International Law organized by the Inter-American Juridical Committee (CJI) and the Department of International Law of the Secretariat for Legal Affairs of the Organization of American States (OAS), concluded successfully in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on August 16th.

The closing ceremony was held at the Escola da Magistratura do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (EMERJ) and was co-sponsored by that institution. During the ceremony the following representatives took the floor, Dr. Dante Negro, Director of the Department of International Law, Dr. George Bandeira Galindo, President of the Inter-American Juridical Committee, and Judge Des. Marco Aurélio Bezerra de Melo, Director General of the EMERJ.

Throughout the two-week course, 36 participants from 14 countries from the Americas learned about various topics in the field of public and private international law, as well as new legal developments in the Inter-American system. The faculty included officials from international organizations, academics, judges, arbitrators, and internationalists. The students also had the opportunity to visit the facilities of the Inter-American Juridical Committee and have a dialogue with its members.

Next year we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Course on International Law. The Course will be held from August 4 to 15, 2025. We also wish to inform that the 50th Course will be held at the premises of the Escola da Magistratura do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (EMERJ).
