The Fifth Inter American Meeting was held in Quito, Ecuador, in April 2008. Three key aspects of electoral processes were discussed: Incorporating Electoral Technologies in the Hemisphere, Electoral Participation: Improving Accessibility and Engaging Voters; and Tools for Regulating Political Financing. These are vital issues for democracies in the region, in order to generate public confidence in the electoral process and in the electoral authority.
