From May 17th to 19th in Miami, Florida, 36 prosecutors from 12 countries of the Caribbean participated in a training workshop on the technical and legal aspects of cybercrime, including the importance of international cooperation for effective prosecution of these offenses.

The training wasorganized by the OAS General Secretariat, through the Department of Legal Cooperation of the Secretariat for Legal Affairs, as Technical Secretariat of the REMJA (Ministers of Justices, other Ministers, Prosecutors and Attorney Generals of the Americas), in coordination with the US Department of Justice (USDOJ).


During the workshop, specialists from the USDOJ and the OAS provided training to prosecutors on:

  • The importance of updated cybercrime legislation to facilitate mutual legal assistance
  • Technical aspects of cybercrime
  • Available international cooperation tools
  • The importance of preserving electronic evidence
  • Investigative techniques
