Welcome session of the workshop

From August 9th to 11th in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, 40 judges from 5 countries of the region participated in a training workshop on the technical and legal aspects of cybercrime, including the importance of international cooperation for effective prosecution of these offenses.

The training was organized by the OAS General Secretariat, through the Department of Legal Cooperation of the Secretariat for Legal Affairs, as Technical Secretariat of the REMJA (Ministers of Justices, other Ministers, Prosecutors and Attorney Generals of the Americas), in coordination with the US Department of Justice (USDOJ).


During the workshop, specialists from the USDOJ and the OAS provided trained to judges on:

  • The importance of updated cybercrime legislation to facilitate mutual legal assistance
  • Technical aspects of cybercrime
  • Available international cooperation tools
  • The legal aspects of electronic evidence from the judge´s view
  • Investigative techniques and their challenges
