Within the framework of the Inter-American Network for Police Development and Professionalization (REDPPOL), the Department of Public Security (DPS) implements two courses for five police institutions in the region, with the objective of strengthening and optimizing their capacities through the training of Internal Auditors in the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.

Both courses, with a duration of 32 hours each in virtual mode, are aimed at officers from Carabineros de Chile and the Investigative Police of Chile, the National Police of Ecuador, the National Police of Paraguay and the National Police of Uruguay. The courses are financed by the Government of Italy.

These courses are designed to train police officers as Internal Auditors in the Quality Management System according to ISO 9001:2015. The implementation of a quality management system improves the ability of police institutions to deliver high quality services, achieve their strategies and objectives, promote operational improvement and reduce costs, among other benefits. In the long term, it fosters greater confidence in law enforcement, helps prevent and reduce crime, and provides a safe environment for all citizens.

The course content covers both the theory and practice of internal auditing, based on the Guidelines for the application of ISO 9001:2015 in police organizations, developed by the OAS within the framework of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
