The seminar addressed how countries can develop and use a national EWS to detect, assess, and respond to new psychoactive substances, opioids, and other emerging drug threats. Participants from Caribbean, Central American, and South American countries with an active EWS or a developing EWS benefited from sessions with expert trainers, lessons learned from other member state experiences across the Americas, and a tour of a laboratory facility that supports the recently established and active Salvadoran EWS.
