The Office of the OAS General Secretariat in Antigua and Barbuda was established in 1984. In absence of a resident representative currently Ambassador Yolande Y. Smith, coordinator at Headquarters, acts as representative.
The OAS Antigua and Barbuda Office serves as the crucial link between the Member State and the OAS, and actively promotes the organization's core principles and ideals, ensuring maximum visibility through strategic public diplomacy engagements.
Over these 40 years the OAS has impacted Antigua and Barbuda through the implementation of programs and projects under the main pillars of democracy, human rights, security, and development.
The office works under the Coordinating Office for the Offices of the General Secretariat in the Member States (COOGSMS). In the absence of a formal representative, the duties are performed by the Director of the COOGSMS, Amb. Yolande Yvonne Smith.
