The Office of the OAS General Secretariat in Uruguay was established in 1956. In 2020, Claudia Barrientos was appointed as resident Representative.
The OAS Uruguay Office serves as the crucial link between the Member State and the OAS, and actively promotes the organization's core principles and ideals, ensuring maximum visibility through strategic public diplomacy engagements.
Over these 68 years the OAS has impacted Uruguay through the implementation of programs and projects under the main pillars of democracy, human rights, security, and development.
The Office works under the Coordinating Office for the Offices of the General Secretariat in the Member States.
