The Office of the Secretariat of the General Assembly, the Meeting of Consultation, the Permanent Council and its Subsidiary Organs (OSAG) is one of the three areas that report to the Office of the Assistant Secretary General. Its main roles are to provide ongoing guidance, advice, and support to the elected officers of the political organs on topics of their interest and competence as well as priority matters, furnishing the necessary structure, expertise and experience to enable member states to engage in dialogue and negotiations, thereby moving decision-making processes forward.
The OSAG has a highly qualified, multidisciplinary staff of professional and administrative personnel with extensive work experience, who are committed to the values and principles for which the OAS stands. The OSAG team's priority is to serve the member states and the General Secretariat by providing advice on political and procedural matters, handling highly sensitivity information with its characteristic professionalism, and promptly and efficient discharging its assigned tasks and projects.

Advise on the parliamentary procedures, historical backgrounds and current affairs of the issues, and suggest strategies to contribute to the cycle of monitoring the implementation and proposal of mandates.
Submit the the appropriate authorities, the relevant institutional information that may contribute to decision-making. It ensures that it is a registry of decisions.
Guarantee the uniformly management of the information, priorities, existing regulations, parliamentary procedures and the internal procedures within the Organization.
To contribute, through constructive efforts, maintaining an atmosphere characterized by respect, commitment, loyalty, cooperation and progress, in the context of the professional roles and responsibilities.
